Could you briefly introduce yourself?

I got into PostgreSQL while working on my Ph.D. thesis in database science and have been a developer ever since. Later on I made PostgreSQL (and other Open Source software) my job by starting credativ.

How do you engage with the PostgreSQL Community?

I still fix the occasional bug, but most of my PostgreSQL work nowadays is talking about it on conferences and other presentations.

Have you enjoyed previous pgconf.eu or FOSDEM conferences, either as attendee or as speaker?

Yes, I did. And I always look forward to coming back and meeting so many people from the PostgreSQL ecosystem.

What will your talk be about, exactly? Why this topic?

In recent years there have been several cases where proprietary software has been presented as making PostgreSQL more useful in a business environment. However, there are and always have been, Open Source tools that solve the same use cases. The elephant shed has been created, and is presented, to show that Open Source offers everything needed for a full production database server.

What is the audience for your talk?

Everyone with an interest in PostgreSQL is very welcome to come to this talk.

What existing knowledge should the attendee have?

No special expertise in PostgreSQL is necessary to follow the presentation.
